1923 Harley Davidson Indirect Action Two Cam 8-Valve Board Track Racer for sale in Ojai, California

This very rare and original 1923 Harley Davidson Indirect Action Two Cam 8-Valve Board Track Racer is one of only a small handful of original factory 8-Valve racers are still in existence. This factory racer is well documented and has known history back to the day it was shipped by the factory to the Ogden Race Team in Australia. Many decades later, Bill Macnamara purchased this motorcycle direct from the Ogden family and reported to find the motor submerged in a barrel of oil. Along with the original frame, forks, a number of other original components were present and accounted for. Bill also located one of the original racers by the name of Jack Patman, "well in to his years" and was able to reunite him once again with this motorcycle. As any race team, this chassis was also used with a number of motor configurations. Besides the Harley 8-Valve motor, it was also used with this indirect action two cam low end with one cylinder blocked off for the 500cc class. Other brand motors such as BSA and what looks to be a British build Excelsior motor were also installed and raced in different classes. When the 8-Valve motor was located, one of it's cylinders was missing, so a newly cast part was used in it's place. This chassis was a very unique design built by Harley which makes this combination even more rare. This motorcycle is one of the rarest Harley's in the world, and would be a stand out center piece for any collection or museum.
